As a female we have the tendency to bargain shop! I spent about an hour contacting multiple tire/mechanic locations to get the best price for a tire I need replaced. The best price was from Discount Tire Center, so I called and made an appt. For Saturday. They said they did not have the exact tire I needed and would require a card # to order the tire from their warehouse. I said that was fine, and asked if any charges would be made. Armando assured me that the information was just to get the tire ordered. About a half hour later I called back to cancel the order and the appointment. He said that he had already ordered the tire and it was already on it's way (UNBELIEVABLE) and that I would have to pay a $30 re-stalking fee if I did not show up for my appointment. I said it was ridiculous, and that he should simply call the warehouse and cancel the order. He said he would. The next morning he said that he was unable to cancel the order since they had closed already and that the tire had been delivered. Therefore, if I didn't show up for my appointment I would be charged the $30 fee. Ridiculous!
1. He did not mention any type of charge previous to my cancellation.
2. I had called back less than an hour later to cancel.
3. Why would he order the tire on Monday, if my appointment was not until SATURDAY!
4. Why didn't he mention this at the beginning of our conversation, when I asked what the card # was required for?
I told him I would not pay for anything since I was not previously notified, and the whole situation was completely sketchy. He said I would need to come to sign a release and confirmation of payment. (Good luck with that). Next day I find a $60 charge from them!!!
I do not know if it's simply because I am a female, and some men in these types of business just feel the need to exploit that.
I called back to tell them that was not legal! They told me to take it up with my bank... So I AM!!!
Just thought I should warn all of you first.
