QX Telecom (now Known As WQ Long Distance)

Miscellaneous

I've seen many complaints here about QX Telecom (know known as WQ Long Distance). I understand the company was sued for its advertising practices regarding a product for female breast enhancement.

I'm interested in knowing what, if anything, has been done about false charges and misrepresentation with regard to the phone service.

Is there anything I can do legally? I guess it's pretty much buyer beware.

Here's my story.

In July and August QX Telecom charged approximately $120 to my Master Card account (i.E., two charges of $59.78 plus a small charge of about $3).

I didn't challenge the charges until September. I managed to get the service cancelled by calling the 800 number. The operator told me of an agreement I had made with a telemarketer earlier in the year. I vaguely remember agreeing to a 30-day trial for a phone service. But, I never received the paperwork showing the name of the service, the terms of the agreement, how much the service would be or how to use the service.

In December I wrote to the customer service staff for QX Telecom requesting a refund. Several months later, I received a reply refusing my request.

Sure seems like this company is more interested in getting money from people than providing a useful service.
