Deadbeat Dad

George Edwin Hopkins (Mike) born July 7 in Maryland is a deadbeat absent father and a sorry excuse for a man. Mike (that's what he goes by) and I dated for approx. 8 months.

In Oct I found out I was pregnant. Mikes suggestion was to have an abortion and by the way he said he wouldn't pay for it either. After that he went on to tell me that I wasn't even pregnant it was in my head. During our relationship he managed to swindle me out of my car (my stupidity) and countless pay checks (once again my stupidity). Shortly before Valentines day a coworker of mine had informed me that he had seen Mike at a Dennys with another women. While at his place I had opened the drawer for something and found a note saying "thanks for a great valentines day, love christian."

Christian at the time was a Waffle House waitress (the one on 234 in manassas Va) Not only had I met this "women" but I had talked to her about being pregnant and my relationship with Mike. And she continued to pursue an affair with him. After we broke up I tried countless times to speak with Mike regarding the future of our child. His views changed daily. One minute he was going to around and involved and helping me out. The next day he didn't care. My daughter Kaitlyn was born May 31. I should also mention that MIke never went to a single doctors appointment no matter how many times I offered. The night she was born he did come up to the hospital to see her. And one time after that when Kaitlyn was about 2 months old I stopped by for him to see her. My daughter is fast approaching her first birthday and has no idea who her father is.

Because I work I am not eligable for any type of benefits thru social services. Because I do not have Mikes social I am at a standstill collecting child support. Thankfully I receive a lot of help from my father and of course I work. I have tried many many times to speak with Mike about Kaitlyns welfare he will not come to the phone.instead I have to deal with Christian who just says Mike wants nothing to do with Kaitlyn or myself. I love my daughter to pieces and I'm a great mother to her. I will no doubt continue to provide for her the best I can. It greatly saddens me that she has an entire family (grandparents, half brother, father etc.) out there that she will most likely never know.

My hope is that enough people will read this and maybe some other women will be a little smarter then I was about him. So beware of guys who go by Mike that hang out in Waffle Houses and Dennys, drink nothing but coffee, have some strange mouse looking tattoo on their shoulder, smoke Marlboro Reds, "collect antiques" and live in Virginia. Thank you
