I received a letter in the mail with a very authentic cashiers check for $2850 with Jenny Sandman as the remitter. The bank is Kearney Trust and the routing number is accurate. Kearney Trust is in Missouri. TechX Services stated that they are a service provider for he mystery shopping industry. With over 5,700 shoppers...
The scam is that they tell you to deposit the check after you call John Andy at 1-403-400-1487 (A Canadian number) to activate it. A real cashiers check does not have to be activated. They say the check will go through in 2 business days, then you need to withdraw funds from your bank and ten mystery shop at western union and send $2350.00 to one of their trainers. Antonio Captins in Bronx, NY; Melliseh Thors in Long-Island, NY or Juan Anthony in New York New York.
This sounds too good to be true because it is. The check is not authentic and if you deposit it you will run the risk of your checking account being closed. The scam is that they tell you the check will clear in 2 days. Usually a bad cashiers check like this bounces in about a week. They hope that you end up taking your funds out before the check bounces and send your own money to them. They are also apparently going by the name of GTech services.
