Texts Say $500 then $1100 Owed After Phone Left Untouched on Cruise

I boarded the Princess Diamond at 8:30 on June 2 and when I awoke on Sunday with a text from Verizon that said I owed $500. I hadn't touched the phone since getting on the ship. I left the phone in the room (hidden) and went ship exploring after al this was the first vacation me and my wife have had in forty years including honeymoon. Later that morning I received another text that said I owed $1100 I still have not touched the phone. I have tried for two months to get some restitution but you can't talk to a decision maker.
