DS-MAX (or Innovage, Cydcor, Granton, and all other alias) is a company that takes unexpecting individuals and turn their worlds upside down.in the time that I spent at one of their company's I saw it all.

They would recruit people by placing classified advertisments in various media (major newspapers, monster.com, careerbuilder.com, mass e-mailing, high school papers, and many others).

When job seekers call they put you through a prelim. Screening process with the administrator on the phone then invite you in for an interview the same day or the next day. When you come in for your appointment you fill out your appliction (with all of your info, social security #, licence plate #, drivers licence #, ect.) then either the owner of the office or the manager that they are trying to promote will interview you. They make sure that you are not a criminal convicted of robbery, murder, or fraud and you are will to try their management program. You get contacted sometime that day and invited back the next business day for a day of observation.

When you come back the next morning they still dont explain what you are doing they only tell you that you will spending the day with a manager and observing what they do to see if you can do the job. You are given a document stating that you will not get paid for the day and that you agree. Then given more paperwork for you to use during the day. Then the manager you are paired with takes you outside and you get in the car only then are you told that you will be doing door to door sales.

If this isnt enough to convince you let me tell you more. Do you know that if the city that your territory is in has a no soliciting law and you get a ticket you have to pay it. Actually any cost you incure you pay for. You must use your own trasportation or your stuck on public transportation. You start work at 7am you stay at you office untill about 9:30 or 10:00am then you start your day and then you are done at 6pm or sometimes 7pm (thats a twelve hour day). You make about $20 a day and if you take a check and their is a stop payment or its bad you still have to pay the company.

Sure a lot of times they make it seem like you are their best friend. Your boss takes you out once a week and buys you all dinner. They even extend you security (a system where you can give some of your profit to your boss and they hold it for you and keeps a log for you) and little do you know when they have their inventory done and its short they split the cost amongst you and take it out of your security or if someone on your crew gets a bonus it comes out of your security and your not even told. How about at the end of the year when you get your 1099 mailed to your house and you have to pay taxes on it since none gets taken out for you and it isnt accurate because the owner is supposed to mark exactly what your profit is but they usually dont but you dont get to see what is turned into the accountant on a weekly basis.

Well this is just the tip of the iceburg and it sucks. However all of what I just told you isnt even the worst the worst is the internal (what goes on between the owners and DS-MAX itself). And for anyone that says that DS-MAX is just a supplier well I have a vast array of documentation to prove otherwise, and other documents they well just to say it nicely are just bad bad bad. I just really hope they change their ways.

Now before anyone decides to comment to this let me say one thing. The wonderful thing about America is that anyone can start a business and try to succed, as far as DS-MAX goes no one can say you are doing anything but trying to make a buck and that isnt wrong but the way you go about doing it by hurting people, their familys, and taking away valuable years of their lives by lying to them instead of being honset isnt right.
