Wall Street Journal Online
Wsj

Miscellaneous

I have been a wall street journal subscriber for quite some time. When I was sent a renewal rate this year it was a great deal more than last year's rate and so I checked online to see if a lower rate was available. I found several sites listing subscriptions at a lower rate than was offered to me. I placed an order and received a confirming email from wall street journal restating the subscription price along with an indication of my charge account which was to be billed.

When the paper did not arrive I phoned customer service at wsj and was told no account had been created as a result of my application as I was not a new subscriber. The email confirming my order made no mention of this requirement nor did it indicate that their confirmation of my subscription was conditional in any way.

I feel that the wsj was deceptive by allowing its subscription offer at the lower rate of be put on the various discount sites without clearly stating on those sites that it was only for new subscribers. I am canceling my current account.
