Miscellaneous

Out of nowhere my laptop screen was covered with pop-up windows suggesting that I had viruses on my MacBook. I wasn't able to continue using my laptop until I purchased the protection software. Unlike other reports, in this case the software icon appeared and remained in the top bar next to the Time Machine and Bluetooth icons. I didn't realise that this was a scam until at the end of a routine software update a system message said that MacShield Malware was removed from my computer. I didn't pay the credit card charge yet, will try to find out what they have to say about this first...
