My mother emailed me an ad. For a truck that she said I might be interested in buying. I emailed the contact peterconnor07@gmail.com. He told me that he was in the Army training to deploy to Afghanistan at the end of the month and just didn't want to store the truck. He said he was at a base in Montana and couldn't use the phone b/c they considered it a training distraction, but he could check email... Though infrequently. He said he would pay for the truck to be shipped to VA b/c that was a perk of being in the service - cheap shipping through DAS. He said he would also pay for the title transfer... That we would be protected by ebay buyer protection and would have 3-5 days to decide if we were okay with the truck and then ebay would release the money to him when we okayed it. I had used ebay protection when I sold my violin so that sounded like how ebay assisted my customer. He said that we would get an email from ebay telling us how to proceed. I received two emails that seemed to be from ebay customer protection. We didn't figure out it was a scam until we struggled with Western Union's fees and decided to contact ebay customer service with questions. They asked if the ad or transaction made reference to craigslist in anyway. It did. They told us ebay never uses Western Union - Don't pay. Holy cow! We could have been fleeced out of almost $3000. G
