American home shield is the worst home warranty company in existence. I have a warranty with them, will be cancelled today. I had problems with my freezer/refrigerator. It wasn't cooling as it should. I called AHS, technician came out. He checked everything and said he'd call to see if it was covered. He didn't tell me what he found. I signed his invoice, paid my $60 service fee. I called AMS a few days later, and was told that because my filter was dirty the refrigerator wasn't working properly. I assured the operator that I vaccuum this filter every other month, religiously. This is a 6000.00 refrig., I take care of it. I was then told that repairs wouldn't be covered. I was offered a 2nd opinion. She said that if the next technician had the same diagnosis, I would have to pay another service fee. I knew that they wouldn't have the same diagnosis, because the filter is spotless. The next tech came out a few days later. His diagnosis was very different. He stated that a lot of GE Monograms that he has seen had this problem. The freezer doesn't freeze at times, therefore the refrig doesn't cool. He said that it needs an upgraded heater kit. Now this is a very different diagnosis. I understand that AHS did not cover this. AHS insisted that I pay another service fee for the 2nd opinion. I am upset that I'm expected to pay this. I was informed if there was a different diagnosis, no service fee. I will be cancelling this warranty and looking for another company.
