Ripoff attorney's or credit debt

I had been a victims of identity theft. I did not know that a credit card existed in my name until I went for a bank loan. This credit card was from Providian Bank. I started receiving collection letters from different agencies trying to collect on this credit card.

Each and everytime I sent a letter to whom ever was trying to collect for some sort of verification of the debt and proof. Never did I ever get my requested information.By the way, all letters were sent certified mail with return receipt. It would just get sent to another collection agency and the same thing would be done with them.in the begining of June of I received a call from an attorneys office wanting payment. I told them everything that I had done with all the other.

I finally had to write a cease and desist to them. I did not hear anything from them until Christmas time of this past year. It was a person who wanted directions to my home because he had official papers from our County Court and if I did not give him directions, he would be forced to call the Sherrif and I would be arrested for interfering with legal process. I refused, however my husband gave him directions. He got to our home around 9:20 pm. My husband went to the door grabbed the papers and gave the guy the finger and slammed the door in his face. It was not from our County Court it was from Messerli and Kramer trying to sue me.

I also had requested form them the same proof and verification I did with all of the others that had tried to collect. I did forget to mention that I disputed it with all three credit bureaus and it was removed because they couldn't verify it either. I then got an attorney since I was told I had only 20 day to respond. Needless to say I ended up having to pay $400.00 to settle an account that did not belong to me, never was mine to begin with, but because of economic reasons I settled.

What we found out from our attorney was, if we went to our District Court, we would have probably won, however, Messerli and Kramer would then sue us in Federal Court and it would be over turned because apparently they are all buddies in that level of the system and it would have been more expensive to fight it than what it was accually worth. My attorney did have it written in the settlement that this was now over and that it will nover get put on my credit again and that by paying this I was in no way shape or form admitting guilt and that I totally have all reservation paying this and only doing so for economic reasons. Since when are the laws that are made to protect us as consumers ok to be violated by a large Law firm that does nothing but make a mockery of those laws. Anyone else from Minnesota been screwed by this Law firm? Love to hear from you. I'm not done with them yet.
