Claim i Owe Money

They claim they bought an delinquent account of mine from J.C. Penney that was owed since 1997. (1) I called J.C. Penney's credit department and they told me that they never sell any account to any collection agency. (2) They told me that my account has always been paid up and do not owe them any money whatsoever, at present my balance is zero. I have a letter from J.C. Penney dated February 22 stating that information. (3) I always pay my bills within 30 days or I do not buy it. (4) When I answered the first phone call I asked for the bill, what the merchandise was, and what exact date it occurred. They said they did not have that information. They said the account's number last four digits were #1345. J.C. Penney said there is no account number that matches that number.

I reported this to the Fraud Detail of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and they told me to report it to FTC. That has been done. I went on their website, www.assetacceptance.com, and found 6-8 "help" attorneys that can fix a person's credit. Hat alone smells of a fraud. A fraudulent charge to a person, and then offering to "fix" it for you through attorneys recommended by Asset Accept. They have continued to call me every time at the same time every day Mon-Friday since 2-21. We have not picked up the telephone since the first time except that my wife picked it up today and told them they had been reported to the FTC, and if they did not stop calling they were going to be sued for harassment. They hung up without answering her. Whatever you can do to help us and anyone else that they may prey upon would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to contact us if you need any more details.
