Service Never Work

In Oct we order wireless internet service for our laptop UPS deliver a desk top modem that plug in a phone jack in the wall. Never the less we don't have a land line phone nor does then phone jacket work. How i no i tried by plugging in a land line phone. We do have Comcast service that our laptop is stationary. We didn't get a wireless router were live we can't get a signal. We can only use cable any other service wouldn't work. We tried Dish Network it didn't. I call to let Century Link know and i did set up an appointment from 12 to 4. They never showed up. Now it in collection.
