The owner Allan Peters - New Jersey Grout Medic Rip Off

I called the grout medic to clean up my grout in the shower area of my bathroom. The owner, Allan, spent all of about 30 seconds looking at the area at which time, as he turned and walked away clearly stated, "I know exactly how this should be repaired". He then immediately wrote out the estimate where we discussed the color of the grout and how to keep the grout clean without using harsh products once it was replaced. Telling me some line of crap. And wouldn't you know it... He happened to have a cancellation at 1 PM the next day. When I said that time was no good, wouldn't you know it again... He had a later time slot. My lucky day. The price came to $239 after a $50 discount and a 10% deduction due to my husband's profession. Very reasonable I thought.

Well, the grouter came the next day as planned. He did absolutely no grouting. All he did was caulking. The crack down one corner of the bathroom, where once was uniformed grout is now a thick, heavy beam of caulking.in the areas where the caulking does matters, only half was done. The grout that I thought was being replaced, the black, mildewed and chipped out grout was left untouched. The grouter was in and out in less than an hour. After he left I couldn't believe how I got ripped off. My young son could have made those repairs for a $1.50 in caulking materials. I looked at the estimate which I did not do before hand. I was there when he wrote it and we were discussing it.in all fairness, the installer or whatever he is called, did exactly what Allan wrote down. Nothing of which was conveyed to me. As a matter of fact I thought he was replacing the grout. We spent several minutes discussing the color of the grout and that they provide the grout, etc. Thinking about it, what a fool. I have never felt so ripped off in my life. To make things worse... I called him the same night and left a message pretty much what I am saying here. What does he do? Does he call me back? No. He ran to the bank with my check to cash it. That check was cashed and cleared within less than 24 hours. That action, right there, should tell you of this man's character.

Grout Medic you are a rip off. And whenever I get the opportunity, I will let everyone know what a rip off you are. To the folks reading this. Go local. Use your local contractors. The Grout Medic was one of the worst experiences I ever had with a household repair. Stay away!
