Took my money and didn't get me a reduced mortgage

I received a call from them saying that they coult help me in getting my mortgage modified, I paid them $3,000 did all the paper work I was told what to send, I waited and waited, i tried to call these people and see what was going on only to find out that all the phone numbers I called were not in service. I finally got a no for them and someone answered and told me that they would me back they did, but as it turned out this person is an independent helping this firm with clients, who is closing out their files. I paid money to this firm and have gotten no where. I was told that they never should of told me that htey could help, as I was on unemployment and it could not happen. They have done nothing for me, Except give me false help on my problem. They took my money and I would like something done to get it back, They did not do what they told me they would do.
