Critical Screen Flaw - Aspire ONE Netbook AOA 150

I bought an Acer Aspire ONE (AOA 150) April 2 to use with my son who is autistic. Since we can not afford a regular laptop or PC the netbook was perfect and it was on sale. This netbook was perfect for him because he is a child and you know children have little fingers. I am a special education grad student and it was also perfect for me. My son loved using it as I used it therapeutically for social skills websites to help him with his communication. I have NEVER left him alone with the computer as I had to help him with the instructions for the website. During one of our "friends" time I opened the laptop to find a barely visible crack behind the cover screen. When I turned it on the screen was white and the crack was very visible. Of course my son was devastated because we could not play his games. After reviewing the website and following the instructions I spent an additional $50 to send it Next Day Air via UPS per instructions on your website. The cracked screen was listed on the website and my system was under warranty until 4/2/10. Once the computer arrived at your repair center in Texas I received a call back in about two days stating that cracked screens were not covered under the warranty and that if I wanted it fixed I would have to pay $200 which is the amount I paid for the netbook. I was also told that if I did not want it fixed I would have to pay additional charges in shipping fees to get it back! I could barely afford to get this one and I definitely can't afford another one. After researching the matter it is more than apparent by the complaints on several different websites this is not an isolated problem.
