Over use of train whistles—All day and Night long

I would like to know why the engineers that run the trains through our town of Acton, Ont. Canada have to blow the whistle up to 6x's per crossing? I understand the reasons for blowing it but —6x's making 16 times or more in our little town!!! We hear it coming and going for miles. We happen to live right by the tracks and find it very hard on the heart when this is being done every night at 1:00,2:00 and 3:00 am (it changes it seems) and different times during the day. Our 8 month old grandchild wakes up screaming because of it somtimes. We never had it like this in our old home town. Thankyou for listening.
