It was really hot out and I was craving some peppermint ice cream, so my husband and I decided to give our local Cold Stone a try. It smelled really nice when we walked in and were told by the server that we would need to wait until he finished making cones. We told him that we had never been to the store and asked how things worked. He simply said “You tell me what you want, and I mix it together.” Not seeing any peppermint, I chose my second favorite, mint chocolate chip. I spied the dipped cones and asked to try one. Boy was I disappointed when he handed me a big melted glob of undistinguishable green goo and a spoon. I took a bite of the cone first, but it didn’t taste at all like chocolate and nuts. I tried a couple of bites of the mixture and wondered what in the world I was eating. There was no mint flavor at all and instead of chocolate chips there were big chewy globs of who knows what. My husband had been reading a banner and asked for one of the signatures banana something. I took mine back to the counter and told the guy that I was really trying to like it, but just couldn’t eat it. He just said, “Well, I’m sorry.” I told him that I would empty the cone into the trash and asked for just some mint ice cream. He agreed and handed me some in a cup. This soft green cream had no mint flavor at all. I tried a bite of my husband’s cone and it tasted ok, but was also pretty melted. He tossed most of it, including the cone in the trash as we were leaving.in the car, I asked my husband how much that disaster had set us back and he answered $12.00. We decided then and there that we would never make that mistake again. How Icky! We’ll stick with Braum’s from now on.
