On April 8 around 1 pm my husband I went into Burger King, Castro Valley Blvd. Castro Valley CA. We ordered and I told my husband that I will treat him and I said I had a twenty to pay with. He saw me hand the cashier a $20. During the transaction my husband wanted to upgrade his fries. There was confusion and the cashier put a $10 on the counter, she didn't hand it to me. I pick it up thinking it is my change, but she said I didn't pay. We both told her that I gave her a Twenty. I asked that the cash drawer be checked for my $20. The manager tells me that all her girls are honest. I told her that I didn't call her cashier dishonest I just wanted verification that I had given her a $20. I think this was an unprofessional comment, I didn't think the cashier was a thief. Then the manager took the cash box away to look at the money. The manager returns and says that my $20 wasn't in the box. I handed the manager the $10 and I said that I needed to pay then. The manager takes my $10 and walks away with it not entering in the cash register. The bill came to $8 and I needed my $2 change. Another cashier told me the manager will bring it to my table. Minutes later the manager comes and tells me that she gave me my change.
I told her that she can just keep my $2. The manager did not give me my change according to my husband and myself.
I am 67 years old and I think that seniors are often not taken seriously and intimidated easily to back off and give up. That manager never gave me my $2. Also my husband witnessed me giving the cashier $20 and there is not way to prove anything, but I think it should be recorded and noted that this occurred and could have been handled better. I don't think a customer asking for a count in the cash box should be told that I am implying the cashier is dishonest. Barbwire
