Indefinite Online scammers

I signed up for online courses and within a month my business partner changed her mind. I call the company to ask for a refund because I had not opened any of their course material nor taken any of the online test to earn the certificate they were offering. She said "tough luck" we don't give refunds. A year later I see a charge from AAWP on my credit card. I contacted them and was told that my courses came with a year free of membership fees but after that I would be charge monthly. I once again told her that I changed my mind and did not do the courses nor even opened them so why would I want a membership much less membership fees monthly. She told me that I was sent an email and I did not reply with a decline therefore I am now obligated to the membership. I don't understand why this makes sense to them. So not only did I get ripped off a year ago but now they are going to rip me off monthly because I did not get an answer an email that I thought was spam.
