Genghis Grill
Manager tells student employee he sucks!

The store does not schedule the kids they hire to work, they just show up and are assigned tables. If too many show up, some of them have to go home. Today when this student showed up for work the manager on duty was upset that he did not come in the previous Saturday. The student explained to this manager that he had told the manager on duty the Friday before that he would not be working the next Saturday. Today's manager tells the student he will be required to work for 2 weeks for $2.18 per hour with NO tips because he will be on probation. Student explained to him that he could not do that because he has to make more than that. The manager asks if he is quitting then and the student said he would quit if he had to. Manager tells student that he sucks anyway and that he's fired.

Is this the way Genghis Grill allows its managers to bully these kids that work there? Is it even legal to force a kids to work for $2.18 per hour and if so, who gets to keep the tips he earns... The manager? Seems self serving to me and a conflict of interest for them to keep tips earned by someone else. How professional is it for these bully managers to tell a young man that he sucks?

It might be beneficial to know that this is a fine young man that has attended Christian school most of his life. He is a good student and has never been in any trouble. He lost his mother to cancer when he was only 8 years old and was then abandoned by his father a year later. Too spite all the odds he is a fine young man that was simply trying to earn money to help support himself. What a great experience in the adult world as he has ventured out into his first job. I for one will NEVER enter another Genghis Grill and I vow to tell everyone that will listen how they have treated this fine young man.
