Miscellaneous

To all who are thinking about renting from Village Park I pray that you read this first and that it discourages you from living there.

I lived in the Village Park Apartments with my wife for 7 months. For the most part it was ok. I didn't have many complaints. My wife though, was uncomfortable living there with the amount of time the police spent there. We were told that you would be evicted if the police ever came to the apartments because of something you did. But the police came and people stayed.

Now to the real problem. It came time to move out. I had paid a $200 refundable deposit when we fist moved in. $200 is a lot for the average joe so I called some of my family to come help me on the last day of our lease to help clean the apartment. My goal was to get back all of my deposit. So we cleaned and cleaned. My family (brother, sisiter, and mother) and I spent five hours making sure that the place was perfect. We cleaned all the marks off the walls bought brand new drip pans (those things under the burners for stoves) and made the whole place look brand new. I felt really good. We all worked hard got a lot done and we all felt confident that I would be able to get back most if not all of my deposit. Imagine my suprise when I got a bill from village park instead of my money. They claimed that they had to hire a cleaning crew to clean my aparment. Bye bye $90. They also claimed that they had to do a partial paint job. Bye bye another $80. Light bulbs and drip pans needed replacing. $4 for the bulbs $20 for the drip pans. After all was said and done I owed them an additional $55 ish dollars. Now if you notice I said drip pans. Thats right they claimed that they need to replace the brand new drip pans I bought with new drips pans. Needless to say I fought this claim and the claim of the partial paint job because I KNOW that no painting needed to be done. Well after fighting with them I was able to convince them that I did buy new drip pans and they were willing to reduce my final bill to $27.75. I paid it just to be done with these criminals.

A lesson to all of you renters out there. First, NEVER rent from village park or any other properties of parent company Apartment Management Consultants. Second, if you have to rent form the above mentioned TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING!!! Take picture of the apartment before you move in and after you clean it. Take a lot of pictures. Third, save any and all receipts. Good luck to all of you out there that are or were in the same boat I was. My heart goes out to you.
