Rodd Sala
Mispresents the condition of the Rolls Royces he sells on ebay

Miscellaneous

The following text is taken directly, word for word" from Mr. Sala's ebay advertisement for a 1966 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow on ebay:

The trunk has all its original carpet fitted and is veryclean and dry. Photos include a pic of the carpet folded back to reveal theoriginal under felt which is like new. Tyres are a matching set of qualityMichelins (205/75). Hubcaps are straight and were recently buffed so thestainless steel is shiny. Mechanically the car is fantastic. It has been recentlywork-shopped with all the hydraulics/braking system serviced and working well (new hoses, brake pump, valves etc). The engine truly purrs and gear-change issmooth and quiet. The car is very spritely in power which is a good sign of awell cared for and good condition motor. The following are some of the more notable items recentlyattended to by expert Rolls-Royce service technicians:* All new flexible hydraulic and brake hoses* Various steel hydraulic lines* New brake pumps* Overhauled pressure accumulators* New shock-absorbers and front strut towers* Brake rotors* Brake pads* Factory Rolls-Royce exhaust from header pipe to tailpipe (all correct mufflers). Still have parts stickers attached.* Engine has been fully serviced* All dash and door wood refinished to exactingRolls-Royce standards ($2,500). A/C blows ice cold and the heater works well. Allinterior and exterior lighting has been checked with all bulbs and lampsworking as they should. Original jack and operating manual, including a file ofservice work receipts come with the car.~ A pedigree Silver Shadow, in all, this is animmaculate example that needs nothing spent on her. It is virtually showstandard and, in my opinion, could be shown as-is. To err on the side ofconservatism, it very comfortably ranks as a 9 out of 10 driver. ~=Though Mr. Sala claims not to be a "dealer", he appears to have numerous Rolls Royce's for sale all the time on ebay. One day after taking delivery of the car, there was a failure in the hydraulic braking system, despite the fact that his ad clearly stated that the braking system had been fully serviced and repaired. I brought the car to one of the Sr. Technical Advisors for the Rolls Royce Club and Foundation. After going over the car, it required $8,000 in repairs. When I reported this to Mr. Sala, he said he must have been confused and the claim in his ad was an error. Nonetheless, he refused to provide reimbursement for any of the repairs and instead dismissed them by saying that I was be overcharged and he basically told me to take a hike. Almost every claim he made regarding this cars' mechanical condition was false. Though I had already left positive feedback on his ebay account when the vehicle was received, I was able to post a followup message to warn other ebayers. Since then, I have been contacted by a number of other ebayers who had also purchased Rolls Royce cars from Mr. Sala with similar results. I thought it would be wise to post this so that other unknowing ebay purchasers don't get taken in by this guy. I am sure that he will try to rebut this (as he did on my ebay account saying I had "buyer's remorse", however the facts speak for themselves. Read his ad. The car he stated would need nothing spent on her required $8k in repairs, most of which were performed on items he stated had been serviced and repaired.
I have been a vintage car collector for 15 years, have bought and sold dozens of cars on ebay during that time and my ebay feedback is flawless. This is by far the most blatant case of fraud I have ever seen.
