The Healthy Housecat non payment, kill fee, breach of promise, codicil to contract, unprofessional behavio

Miscellaneous

I signed a contract earlylast July stating that payment was to be upon publication and some difficultiesensued, making imminent publication impossible.
I was informed on 9/21/09 thatif the piece was not published by January, that I would receive at leastpartial payment for my work. (This statement is like a codicil on a will andreflects a change in the original agreement that SUPERCEDES the contract). Here are her exact words: (Iwill submit full copy, if desired)

On 9/21/09 she wrote:
If it turns out that the article is being pushed back evenfurther than January, I'll discuss advancing half or full payment as a courtesyto you although I am under no legal obligation to do so.
As I did not receive furthernotice of payment from her by the end of I wrote to her on January 4th, asking her to make some financial restitution AS SHE HAD PROMISED.
She did not even show me thecourtesy of a response and a month alter I wrote a second time, informing herof my plans to expose her unprofessional behavior.
Even if she did not like my telling her that she had a moralresponsibility to live up to her words, she still owed me the both some moneyfor my time and the courtesy of a response.
Other writers need to know not to work for this woman. Not onlywill they be put through a editorial ringer of re-writes that will turn out tobe three times the work, they will not even get paid for their efforts!
