Hewlett Packard
Warranty - Presarios Notebook

Miscellaneous

Did you know that when asked to provide a credit card number as collatoral, HP's policy is that you can provide any credit card number even if it isn't yours? Well this just happened to me as I spoke to HP representatives in India. I own a Presario Laptop (still under warranty) and after a battery test, I was instructed to make contact with the company to obtain a replacement. But after being asked to provide a credit card number for security purposes I declined. I was not comfortable doing so. Hence, I was instructed that the laptop along with the defective battery to be shipped in a box that I will receive shortly. The concern is that when I declined in providing a credit card number because I did not have one, I was asked to use a friend's or anyone else's card. When I was instructed to do so I grew even more hesitant. I asked if this was HP's policy, and the representative stated that it was. Wow! Rather than receiving a battery replacement, I am now having to ship the laptop and hopefully in 3-4 weeks I will have it back. Or I can "borrow" anyone else's credit card number. Anyone out there care to "lend" me their credit care number?
