I called Logan's to get a quote for cleaning the carburetors on my Honda. Logan quoted me $ 630, - over the phone - the $ 630 turned out into $ 1,114.11 Logan did not say a word about the $ 348, - for parts (since this wasn't the first carburetor job in his life, he probably knew exactly how much the parts were...), he also did not mention that he would charge a $ 70, - diagnosis fee and another $ 20, - for shop supplies.

When Logan told me "your bike is ready" and I went to the shop to pick it up, it was "I still have to make some adjustments to the bill". This took almost an hour and when I looked at the bill at home I saw that one of the "adjustments" was 12 float needle valves (each one at $ 9.99) for a bike with 6 carburetors... Nice try, obviously he assumes that most of his customers are technical idiots and won't really study the bill. When I called him it was "Sorry, I made a mistake".

This guy is so greedy he will try to bump your bill up as much as possible. While he bills you for each little screw, O-Ring and cleaning solvent, he will still bill you $ 20, - for "shop supplies". (Obviously that is like a tax for being his customer... I am wondering if a customer who asks him to check his tire pressure would also be charged the $ 20, - shop supply fee)

For the installation of a petcock he charged $ 21, - - when I told him "You charge $ 21, - for a job that takes 3 minutes...?" his answer was "we charge in. 3 hour increments and we don't do anything for free..." If he had told me that he would charge me $ 21, - just for pulling the old petcock out and putting the new one in I had told him that I could do it myself.

Be careful: Once this guy has your bike in his hands he will try to take advantage of you. Do everything in writing, don't authorize not even the smallest job without getting a quote from him.

They are professionals and they know exactly how much its going to cost at the end but they will not be open with you. If they quote you something over the phone just assume that later its going to be twice as much.
