Diamond resort intl I bought a timesare I didn't need or want, gave in to pressure sales

I bought a time share from sunterra corp.in 2001. We did not want or need a time share. I am 76 years old and my wife is 70. It all started with an offer for a free dinner if we would sit and listen to a sales presentation, one of hte biggest mistakes in my life. The presentation took along time ande my wife and I don't know how to cope with high pressure sales people They kept us in a room pounding their sales pith until we gave in. I paid $32,000 from my retirement fund. The annual maintenance fee has escalated fro0m $600.00 a year to $1895.00 this year plus an additional membership of $75.00 each year. This are hard times for us and cannor afford to the fees anymore. We cannot use this time share because of our health so we want to give them back this time share. They told me if I don't pay that they will turn me to a collection agency. I don't want a collection agency bothering us. I think there should be a law that would prohibit the sales of time shares to seniors over 70 years of age.
