The Company's Horribly Designed Downdraft Vent System

Jenn-Air continues to practice unsympathetic design by example of their impossible to clean down draft vent system. I purchased a electric cook top from one of their distributors. It is model jed8430adb and it clearly was not made to be cleaned by humans. The shaft, which sits flush with the cooking elements is a repository for every bit of grease or food that finds it's way out of your cooking pan.in fact, I believe the fan actually sucks oil into it's unprotected opening. Try cleaning the crap it collects from the bottom of it -which measures 3" wide and 17" deep! Most arms won't fit and spatula-type utensils won't clean up the disgusting mess.

I called Jenn-Air's "helpline" and was told there was no specific apparatus for cleaning the vent because "there wasn't a problem"!
