Cattle Mix Up

Sold 3 head of cows-received the check on Sat the 13th, cashed check. Contacted by Haas on Monday saying that we had received the wrong check... That there had been a mix up and that we owed them 740.00 back... Problem being that the check we received descripted our cows. We had sold two Hol looking dutch belts, and 1 cross-bred red... They said ours was mixed up with another person who had sold 3 holstein cows. And his description was 3 cross-bred heifers? When we said that was impossible. They said we were the most likely ones to have mixed up. But were not sure... Just checking things out is what we were told... Then on Tuesday the 15th we received a call that informed us that they had canceled our first check and was sending out the smaller one... I called them back to tell them that seeing they were the ones that bought our cattle. To just send our cattle back. I was then informed that they had been sent to slaughter already on Thursday... Thier word against ours??? I informed them that I had taken pictures of our cows and that they were not 700 pound animals, thin and small like they were trying to say. And why would you send 700 # animals to slaughter? Greg basically said it was our words against his and to bad. I told him again that we had received the right check to begin with and that I had pictures to back it up... He insisted that our cows were 2 browns and one red. (they were 2 black and whites, and 1 red). I have sent him the pictures and am waiting on his final word... As of right now... I feel he has stolen our cattle. We received a check that we cashed in good faith and he canceled it. Knowing that the cattle in question had already been butchered.
