Deceptive Practices

At the NTB in Crystal Lake you can be
assured that your car will be there for several hours as they go over it thoroughly to find as many products/services that they can sell you. For example the last time I brought my car in there before this recent issue, I just wanted my headlight
changed. When they called me a couple of hours later to try and sell me several other items. They had not yet put in the headlight. Last week when I bbrought my car in for front tires and brakes, they again kept the car for hours and tried to sell me changes or brake, power steering, & transmission fluid. These were all $109.00 each. I only went with the transmission fluid since I was very busy and did not previously consider this issue. When I got home and reviewed the owners manual, the scheduled maintainence for trans fluid is 84 months or 105,000 miles. My car is 47 months old and has 36,000 miles. When I questioned this I was told that the fluid had been "burnt". I was told that there are high levels of "copper" in the brake and power steering fluids. I was also charged $53.98 for "King Royal Tire Service", which was never explained up front as an installation fee. When I finished my tire purchases at Discount Tire today, the installation fee was mentioned immediately and significantly less. Service manager Dale acted as though I wasn't too smart not to assume that there would be an installation charge. How many people go to NTB and just buy tires without having them put on? Come on! What good is a tire with a good price if you have a high installation fee? I have more, but I hope that I have made my point.
