Upon receipt of the mail today, I noticed an odd envelope addressed with the proper spelling of my name and unusual street address. It had an indistinguishable return address stamp that appeared to be upside down. It bore both a Canadian stamp and post mark. It was in a self sealing envelope.
I hesitated to open the envelope at all, and nearly shredded it, but decided to open it and investigate further. The envelope contained a poorly written letter with unacceptable margins for a business letter and many grammatical errors and a check that looked quite suspicious in the amount of $3,480.00.
The letter listed a street address and zip code in Las Vegas that does not exist, and stated RE: Position: Customer Service Evaluation. It also had the following information to make it look legitimate: Rep ID#: 1103492 - Station 2
I was congratulated on the position of representative that I had been awarded based on information from my email address (which was correctly shown), and I was told I had to complete my probation training assignment within 48 hours.
