Frog Holler Studios, Beth Dash-Ball Her art isn't nearly as creative as her lies. She never made the commissioned work and, 2 1/2 months later, still hasn't returned my deposit

I met Beth, the alleged artist of Frog Holler Studios at a craft fair in Ballston, VA. She makes sculptures of dogs and told me that she does commissioned work from photographs. I thought this would make a perfect gift for my husbands 60th birthday.

On July 13, I sent her a check as a deposit along with several pictures of my 2 dogs in order for her to make one sculpture of each dog. I told her I wanted to pick up the sculptures no later than Monday, September 7th. She told me there was more than enough time to complete the work in time for my husbands birthday.

I checked with her in early August to see how the project was progressing. She told me she lost her lease and had to look for a new place to live so she hadnt begun the project. She promised she would have pictures for me the following Monday.

When the pictures didnt come, I called her and she told me that she had lost her job and had to look for a new job. She promised that she would begin the project and have pictures for me the following Monday.

When the pictures didnt come, I called her and she told me that she had been in the hospital for 4 days for tests. She promised that she would begin the project and have pictures for me the following Monday. They never came.

When I realized that we had arranged for me to pick up the sculptures on Labor Day, I called and asked if I could get them on the Friday before. She told me she hadnt begun them but assured me that they would be ready on Monday, Labor Day.

When I called her on Monday to find out where to pick up the sculptures, she answered the phone and, realizing it was me, hung up. She didnt return any further phone calls or e-mails until I told her on September 15th that I would take action against her if I didnt have the sculptures or a refund of my deposit by September 25th. At that time she told me she lost her baby and was in a terrible accident.

It is now September 25th. I have no sculptures and no check. When I called her today, she said I hadnt given her enough time to return my money. It has been 2 months.

What kind of person lies about losing her lease, losing her job, being hospitalized, losing her baby and being in accident? Im frankly surprised she didnt tell me that her grandmother died and her dog ate the check.
