Bait and switch phony advertising from Verizon

Verizon sent me a letter offering unlimited calling plus DSL for $50. I knew that was phony marketing because by the time they finish adding all the various taxes, fees and surcharges and add-ons - who knows what the final amount could be.

I currently have Vonage which has one simple monthly flat fee, all included.

I was prepared to tell the Verizon representative exactly what I wanted in terms of extras (such as call waiting) and asked for a letter detailing the exact amounts.

They REFUSE to put it in writing! They will only agree to explain this stuff to you verbally - deliberately making it too complex to summarize the data for simple comparison shopping.

Verizon does not want an informed shopper. They only want to do business with shoppers who are exposed to their marketing, not the facts.

I am sticking with Vonage - to heck with Verizon bait-and-switch.
