I had college students come to my door and tell me they were raising money by selling magazines. I payed with a credit card they came back and said they need cash, but my credit card also got charged

College students came to my house and said they were raising money by selling magazines. With myself being a college student I wanted to help. So I paid with a credit card, they came back and said that they couldn't use a credit card they needed cash, so I gave them cash. They told me that my credit card wouldn't be charged. The next day I found out that my credit card had been charged. I tryed to call the number that they gave me but there was only a recording. I called the bank and cancelled the credit card charge..
