D2D, Rivista
Another "College Student" contest attempted rip-off

Miscellaneous

Two very personable young people (18-22?) appeared at our door this evening (9/09/09) saying they were in a contest to learn how to communicate with strangers. They specifically said they were not fund raising or selling anything.

After about 10 minutes conversation they started to try and get me to pay for subscriptions to two magazines. I went along until the fee for said subscriptions was defined to be $63 each adn that the money (and maybe the magazines too!) would go to military personnel serviing in Iraq.

I got the impression that a group of several couples were roaming the neighborhood running this scam. I hope I was able to avoid getting tangled up in it. I will be advising my financial service provider forst thing tomorrow not to process anythiing concerning D2D, Rivista or any other magazine schemes going round our community.

Note that I have not identified myself in the company name and address. The city (Roslyn) has nothinig to do with this case, but I had to put an something in there!
