Bait & Switch—We Don't Care

0n 8/28/09, at 6:40 pm, I went into NSA Supermarket (Former Name C Town) to get rice. I found the rice section, compared the retail & unit prices, selected what I thought was a good deal, went to checkout (I added my total $7.99 rice / $2.19 baggies), WELL the cashier said $15. I said that can't be right. She said the rice was $12.99, I said $7.99. She called over a young man whom I assumed was the front end mgr. I took him to the aisle, showed him the sign, he stood there a few moment and the said the sign was for the other rice. I said that it couldn't be. The sign said Carolina long grain rice. The sign was at the beginning of Carolina long grain rice parboiled and it was at the end of Carolina Extra long grain rice. I work in a grocery store. I am the pricing coordinator. I have been doing the job for over 15 years. I asked for the Manager, after waiting for approximately 10 minutes (the young man had gone to the phone and was speaking to the manager in SPANISH all this time) he came back and said that the sign was for the Extra long grain rice. I said the sign does not say extra long grain or parboiled, the sign say Carolina. I asked for the manager again. He said the manager was busy. I identified myself as a pricing coordinator in a food store and that the placement of the sign was WRONG, and that the wording of the sign was misleading. He also called other another cashier. I felt like they thouhgt I was a crook or something. I have gone in this store numerous times and have spoken to the manager numerous times on various errors to avoid having to place a complaint against the store. I cannot keep silent anymore. I am a trained pricing coordinator and I have a problem with them, I wonder how much a untrained consumer is being cheated. I have had to talk to the manager about out of codes (which were put back on shelf—I went back and checked) (cashiera were wearing open-toed sandles—OSHA violation) (non sale items scanning higher than marked price) All of these times I have a repeadtly stress I wanted to speak to the manager and had to wait a while. Today the manager refused to come down, becasue they were BUSY - THEY DON'T CARE!!!
