Ripping people off, not providing service promised

My husband and I got in over our heads in credit card debt. Also had loss of income which was making it difficult to pay creditors. We decided to look for help and chose F.I.R.E., what a big mistake this has been. We tried to cancel our contract with them (after paying them $10,000.00) as none of our accounts have been settled after almost 10 months. They take their fee first which in our case is $19,000.00.in the meantime we have had creditors harrassing us non stop. We have settled 2 of the 4 debts we have on our own, but still have to pay the whole $19,000.00 fee. I tried to cancel our contract this week and spoke with a very rude person who told me I can cancel the contract but i still have to pay the remaining $9,000.00. I was told if I didn't I would be sued by them. This would require me going to florida from CT and costing me more money I don't have. This is a big scare tactic that I almost bought before seeking advise. I have stopped payment on any future payments, sent a certified letter to F.I.R.E. Stating I am cancelling contract as well as I filed a complaint with the BBB, and Atty general. We will see what happens. Stay away from this preditor.
