The Antithesis of "Excellence"

Greystar Property Management Company's slogan is "We're redefining excellence" and they sure are. After a year of experiencing this company's management style at the complex I'm living in, I realize their definition of "excellence" is to severely abuse their tenants and let the buildings go unmaintained.

They hardly ever answer their phones, never return phone calls or emails, and if you do happen to reach someone, are consistently nasty when they talk to you.

"Appointments" for repairs are never kept until you catch on that they have no intentions of repairing anything, giving any service, or even being civil to you. This may be why their entire staff keeps changing on a monthly basis. People with a conscience disappear very quickly.
The complex is vandalized by tenants nearly every week. Witnesses report it to Greystar, but nothing is done about it. Soon you awaken to the fact that you are living in a crime ridden, vermon infested slum.

They tell you if you don't like it, you can move out. Then before you know what's happened, decent residents are forced out, either for complaining about repairs, or leave after being repeatedly victimized. Eventually you discover you're surrounded by a rather dangerous criminal element, and a pervasive infestation of assorted four legged pests. If you decide to leave, or are evicted for requesting justice or an exterminator, your lease makes you responsible, not only for their attorney's fees, but also your own, plus your moving expenses.

In any case, your contract with them tries to make you financially responsible for all the rent left on the remainder of the term of your lease. They also take all the damages they've caused by their neglect of repairs out of your deposit.

These people have quite a racket going on for themselves. They're probably very successful exploiting absentee landlords because what investor in their right mind would knowingly allow their property to be turned into an absolute dump, completely destroying not only their property's market value, but the entire neighborhood's, as well as creating countless long term vacancies for themselves, drastically lowering its income producing value, not to mention ruining their reputation in business?

The developers across the street went bankrupt after a gang-banger murdered his girlfriend there and the location was broadcasted all over the evening news, further degrading where I'm living. That entire building has sat vacant for over a year, while remodeling its now rather recognizable facade, Encouraging the installation of camera surveillance equipment, which further discourages people from moving around here because of the implication of this and all its negative history. Since this includes virtually no police presence, and no security patrols, one wonders who will care about what would be filmed anyway?

Evidently owners who hire Greystar are either totally oblivious, or are completely without morals, making them accomplices to Greystar's practices and quite possibly, financially and legally libel for damages.
