Gene Norris Honda
Liquidated my account and ripped me off $1000

Miscellaneous

I want to tell you about an incident that happened to me while purchasing my new vehicle from Gene Norris Honda.

This was to be my second purchase from this dealership and I have always had great service and prices from them. I had called the dealership to ask for my old salesperson that was no longer there. The receptionist then placed me in the hands of Joe the sales manager, who told me he would take care of me. I came into the dealership that night and sat down at his desk and told him my story of why I was getting rid of my current car, a Honda del sol, and was turning it in for a new passport. Joe said there would be no problems and introduced me to Mark Kaufman, salesperson, who proceeded to show us the vehicle. I then again told him my story and situation and told him I wanted to buy the passport.

He went and got Joe and the two of them sat with me and discussed our options on price. I told them what price I wanted and they gave it to me, and they told me the amount on my car would be what I had owed on the vehicle. I explained the situation.

This was that back in February, I had prepaid the del sol in full for the rest of the payments I had due, because I was buying a house. American Honda Finance Corporation insured me that I would only have to pay for those payments I was obligated to do so.By selling the car to a dealership that ended my obligation to AHFC, and I would have a credit balance left on my account of @1000. I had called AHFC that same day to find out what my payoff on the vehicle was, they stated me a price of 9481.99 with tax. This amount was written on our contract with Gene Norris and was discussed at our meeting that night. They told me that the amount they would be obligated to owe AHFC was 8987.67 because they didn't pay tax. But that I would still be getting my money back.

After I had purchased the car, I got a statement from AHFC stating that I had a credit balance. I called them to find out the check that they sent to them was only for 8731.45. Which was not what we had agreed too. AHFC stated that they were to pay the 9481.99 as of the date I had turned in the vehicle, but because I had paid off the car, it was less. This lesser amount was only if I had chosen to purchase the vehicle and I had told Gene Norris they were not to pay the lesser because I made extra payments on the car.

I proceeded to contact Gene Norris general Manager Anthony Sarnese, who had no clue as to how a lease program worked. I tried to explain to him that I was not to make payments on a vehicle I no longer owed and that the dealership underpaid AHFC for the amount of the car, and because of that I am not being refunded the extra payments I put into the car. He stated when you turn in a vehicle that is leased that I owe the payments still if I don't own the car. I agreed with him to a point, yes you owe the payments on the car if you turn in the car and don't outright sell it. I SOLD the vehicle so technically I didn't turn it back into the bank, the bank sold it to Gene Norris, and the reason why I did this is because I was over my mileage by 11k and it would cost me money to turn in the car come January. So they owe me the money. And the same would be if I sold the car to an individual.

Anthony admitted they owed me money from the amount stated on the write up sheet to the amount paid but when I asked if he was going to do anything about it he stated no. I asked him if there was a real Gene Norris he stated yes, and his office was right in the same building.

All I want is my money back that I put into my car and no longer have, I shouldn't have to pay for something I sold.
The payments were 223.86x 5 months= 1119.30 but at this point I would settle for the difference between what they paid 8731.45 and 9481.99 that they were supposed to pay=750.54. I explained this to them from the start I trusted these people to take care of me and pay me what we agreed and none of this happened. They sold their car, bought my under priced car and left me behind.
