Publishers Direct Sweepstakes
Waste of time to decipher this scam, praying on the elderly

Miscellaneous

This morning I spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone, because my 91 yr old mother was called to say she would receive a check for $250,000.00 tomorrow IF we sent $1,850 to insure its delivery. The Washington, DC based non-profit consumer advocacy group called to assure her that this was all legit. After talking to them several times, including the supervisor; calling 202-821-4749, supposedly the Better Business Bureau in Washington, DC., to verify this business, I checked on-line to find the exact same offer, with the exact same numbers, including the "security code" for the check confirmation had been used over and over.
When I confronted the Claims Insurance agent, Christy Jones, about this scam she hung up and there is now no answer at her number, the BBB number, or the Publishers Bank number.
Very sophisticated, clever scam, WATCH OUT. Thank you complaint.
