PHONE SCAM, Promise of free cpn but yo pay shipping

Miscellaneous

I received a phone call from a company that called themselves Dicover Enterprises, of Pheonix, AZ. The caller had a heavy accent which sounded like he was calling from India. He said he was in Pheonix. They wanted to send me a $200 gift card for Wal-mart, because I was such a good shopper and they didn't want to lose my business. I neededto verify my address, which I did and now regret. I then asked to speak to a supervisor because I couldn't understand his broken english. The supervisor said he had worked ther 9 years, but asked if I lived in ill. I said that he should learn the names of our states, we use postal abreviations, but we always say the full name when speaking. I argued that I would not pay the shipping and handling fee of $3.95. He tried to explain why they neede to collect that. They needed to keep their transaction "legal". I kept him on the phone for a long time, I happened to be off work today and I found it fun to annoy the annoyers.
He then past the phne to another superior who then asked if I use Visa or Master Card. I asked why he needed to know and he hung up. I will now have to be vigillent in viewing my credit card statements and I will be notifying my main credit card companies.

It's insane that we have to be so cautious, you'd think the laws would be stronger. I have had my main credit card replaced twice so far, because the credit company thought the numbers may be compromised. This is starting to cost consumers way to much. Maybe we all need to go back to cash only.
