About one year ago I owed the IRS approximately $65,000. After paying Effectur $5000 to supposedly help me out (I had heard about them on the radio, and after calling they mentioned all sorts of ways to cut the amounts due, possibly payment plans, OIC... Etc); 1 year later, I now owe $77,000 after interest due to them doing absolutely nothing but causing delay after delay, requesting the same bank statements, faxes of all my bills, even my girlfriend's bank statements and bills OVER AND OVER, going through 3 different people; Finally, after the IRS sent me *3* intents to levy and me getting sick of them blowing me off calling them non-stop, Effectur came back to me with an offer for $2,183.00 PER MONTH from the IRS. This amount essentially would BREAK ME causing me to file for bankruptcy. I told them this over the phone, and for reasons listed forthcoming, I know they didn't care, fight for me, or honesly due anything that turbotax and a phone call couldn't do. I asked them time and time again if I could get a reasonable amount, and they kept insisting the IRS wanted to take every last dime.

Well, after getting this "offer" 12 months and $18,000 later I called the IRS *myself* and cut that $2,183 a month down to $1,000 a month. I was getting fed up with their lack of doing... Anything many months ago, and my assigned "agent" emailed me over and over telling me to absolutely not call the IRS on my own. Apparently the reason was because a simple 20 minute phone call on my part would completely expose the fact that Effectur doesn't even do *that* much on your part.

I don't even *care* about the 5k I wasted on this company at this point, I care more about the 12k in interest i've accrued due to their lies telling me to never contact the IRS on my own because apparently the IRS is so evil, a normal person like myself could never talk to a representative on my own. The facts are however that they lied in their commercials, they lied to me on the phone about what they could do for me, they lied to me over the past year. Never, ever do business with these people, they should be shut down.
