Unpaid $200 Rebate, Outages, Then Collection After Return

Direct TV and Dell were involved in a ripoff scam. They set up a website to give a $200 rebate on the purchase of an LCD TV through Dell, with a Direct TV sign-up required to qualify. They never paid the rebates. I filed a complaint with the Michigan attorney general's office. Now the Michigan attorney general and other states have grouped together to file a class action lawsuit against Dell.

However, I disconnected Direct TV immediately when they did not send the rebate, and due to extreme service interruptions with no repair from Direct TV. They are now trying to bill me, even though I returned all equipment and it was they who broke the contract! Now they have turned this over to collection, and I am afraid it will damage my credit report.
