Breaks contracts, abuses and steals from drivers, breaks fed dot hiring laws

Swift has a history of flooding the roads with unskilled drivers trained by unskilled drivers. There is no testing of of trainer skills by swift.in the previous year swift has recieved 7200 citations for hiring drivers deemed by the law as not being sufficient enough in the english language to safely operate a commercial vehicle in the us as defined by law. Swift does have an incredibly hi accident/fatality rate on america's highways

Currently swift has broken many parts of the current owner operator contract. Swift is forcing 3600 owner operators to sign a new unfavorable contract. Among other things this contract includes a reduction of. 02 cents per mile off the fuel rebate program. Owner operators are being threatened to recieve no dispatches without signing the new contract.

As of 5/1/09 swift will no longer mail or e-mail settlement statements to owner operators. You must now go to a company kiosk at a terminal to veiw/print it from there. Most company kiosks are broken.

As a pre-requisite you must average 10000 miles a month to be allowed to lease a truck from swift. Those like me who are skilled, professional drivers with that kind of average had no problem. Soon as you sign that lease, even as a mentor your miles per week will drop to below 2000. Swift will capitalize on the fact that thousands of other drives (skilled or not) are waiting in line to sign the same lease. Each will fail. Meanwhile swift makes a profit for free. Swift will burn out each driver one by one. Leaving poeple broke and homeless.

These are especially hard bad economic times for the trucking industry. Sacrifices must be made. Those of you in the same position as myself have already sacrificed as much as we can. Are you going to pay swift 700 a week to never see your family? We can stay home without going in to debt with a crooked company that has a history of employee/contractor abuse.

To swift there are better effective ways to balance the troubled budget. Swift is so used to lies, and stealing they dont know how. My fellow driver, attorney, senator, and congressman. Thousands of needed, safe, reliable truck drivers need your help. Please help.

Drivers write your congressman. Complain. Warn others of swifts well known un-ethical bussiness practices.
