Complaint about a transmission repair

I towed my car to the shop on 04/24/09., to get a transmission repair. I saw an add in El Clarin newspaper for 2 years warranty in transmission rebuilt. The owner Mr. Carlos told me after scanning the truck, that would charge me $750 for the job. Now in May 20th, and they call me saying they need more money because there are other things wrong. I know is a used truck. But I thougth a was dealing with professionals. Its bben almost a month, I do not know what to do. Thanks for what you can do.
