False advertising or misleading advertising to Senior citizens

My father who is in his 80's responded to a TV ad for DirecTV for service around $35.00. When he got the bill it was $69.72. So upon calling we learned that you have to have an Internet account registered with directv.com to apply for the "rebate" which is only good for one year out of an 18 month agreement.

When I asked why do they verbally promote the $35.00 monthly service with more HD than cable and not mention the rebate has to be applied for online and furthermore is only good for 12 months. Oh sir, "That's in the fine print on the TV ad", was what I was told! Fine print, bull-sh*... As an Entrepreneur myself, I never relied on mis-leading the public to sell my services based on "fine print"! I'd further suggest that unethical corporations that do so will lose clients in the end!

The cancellation fee is $20 monthly for the remainder of the agreement which is currently $300 for him... Do your-self a favor and go to http://www.dishnetwork.com which I just verified is cheaper from their web site comparison and doesn't use mis-leading advertising!
