Ultimate Power Sales
United Family Circulation aka rip-off! Scamming teenagers sell magazines

Miscellaneous

I read all of the above entries. The first one, from Maryland, struck home:

"Usually they say that they have "just moved to the area" (which explains why they aren't familiar to you) and are selling magazine subscriptions to raise money for: a) Boys and Girls Club of America, b) a soccer or lacrosse team or c) fundraising for a school or recreation center." This is exactly what the kid said to me!

Then with a little more research, I found the following article from Kansas City, at: www.thekansascitychannel.com/news/1734370/detail.html, which reported:

"They were telling people they lived in the neighborhood, that they were children of neighbors, and that they were selling for hospitals, soccer teams, and it just didn't pan out, " Lake Quivira Police Chief Patrick McCarthy said.

I had just such a visit last night, when he said he just moved to the area with his mother, was raising money for a soccer team trip to Europe.

I am usually charitable, but when someone comes to me lying, I try to do something. I stopped payment on the check and sent the cancellation notice to the company in Georgia.

I don't know who is writing on behalf of the company - but hear this: You have a serious problem when your employees are systematically perpetrating the same lies over and over across the country. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ACTIVITY! It's obviously part of your game plan and you must be promoting this behavior. If you are seriously trying to help these kids then teach them to be honest. You are ruining their perception of what honest people do to make money. You are obligated to stop this type of behavior, which is being done in your name and for your profit. Step up and take action.
