Magic Jack
Depends on the compute

Miscellaneous

I have been using Teleblend VOIP as my only telephone service for years with no serious problems, but I'm sick of paying about $20/month for something I rarely use (I have two lines, one for fax. It is less than $15 for one line). So I decided to try Magic Jack, and here's the thing I've discovered: your happiness with this product will wholly depend on the computer you are using it with. It did not work consistently with two of our older computers, and so at first I was highly disappointed. However, we got a new "Media Center" computer with Vista premium and lots of memory and processing power, and it works absolutely perfectly. I still can't get it to work consistently with my fax, which is frustrating, but then again Magic Jack makes no claims that their service works with fax. Bottom line: If you are having trouble, it just might be the interaction between Magic jack and your computer, not the quality of the Magic Jack product per se. If you have a fast, modern computer that you can keep on most of the time, you might join me in being satisfied with Magic Jack.
