Negligent book keeping billing charges to me for their mistake thirteen months after account is closed

I had an account with Alltel a few years ago, after repeatedly failing to get the lower rate they advertised, in discuss, I opted to close the account with them, paying over $900 too shutdown the four lines with them, at the end of the exchange I asked if this was all I needed to do to never hear from them again, the answer was yes to that question.

Out of money, that was fine with me to see an end to our relationship. However thirteen months later I received a letter from them saying that I owed them another $150 because they made a mistake. I would not have wanted to hear from them one day later, but a year. I told them that I was not going to pay them because it was their mistake and not mine to correct. They reported me to a credit collection agency who now persist in harassing me for money they never should have bothered me for. They should get it from whomever it was that made the oversight.

I was a soldier for twenty years and I was responsible for my actions or inaction's and never shrieked from responsibility or allowed somone to take the blame for my mistakes, actions or inaction's. I believe they (Alltell) should be as responsible. I understand that "wrong may have been made legal — but it does not make it right." Altell should have the moral integrity to what is right, retrieve their henchmen, leave me alone and retract their reports to the credit reporters on me.
