Unauthorized credit card charges

Viewing an online bank statement last month, on 3/18/09 was surprised to see a $29.95 charge from Gate Roadside, phone number 888-745-6523. I and my husband decided to try and find out information about this unauthorized charge by calling the number several times and leaving messages. Neither I nor my husband were ever called by this company or received any mail regarding their services, which I learned from a web search is supposedly for Roadside Assistance. (Already have AAA for that.) We never received one phone call in return. (Our caller ID log shows no calls from them, and no message was left on our answering machine.)

Very disconcerting. Upon Googling this phone number and name, I came across numerous complaints as to this company's unauthorized withdrawals from people's accounts, whether as Gate Roadside or as a Golf Adventure Travel, and problems with either getting money refunded or preventing this company from making further unauthorized withdrawals from people's bank accounts.

To their credit, even though we never spoke to a live person or had any of our questions answered regarding their unscrupulous tactics, a refund did appear in our account on 3/26/09. BUT

On 4/4/09, another unauthorized withdrawal for $29.95 was made by this entity on my account. I left another message on their answering machine, and immediately contacted my bank and a lawyer as to what further actions I should take to prevent them from siphoning off my money for services I never requested.

I am submitting this so other consumers will be warned about this fraudulent company, and watch their bank accounts closely.
